![]() ![]() For me, this isn’t a huge deal because I’ve been vlogging since 2006.Īnd so I already know exactly how I’m framing the shot and what I’m going to get. Now some of the lower models do but the Black version does not. No ViewfinderĪnother downside– depending on how you look at it anyway– is that the Black has no viewfinder on it. But if you’re doing much more than that, then you’re probably going to have a couple of extra batteries with you. And by a full day, I mean your record time is actually maybe 20 minutes to 40 minutes. The battery is definitely good for a full day of vlogging. So I usually, if I’m going to be gone for a couple days, I take a few extra batteries with me. Now it’s probably about equivalent to what you would be used to from the Canon ELPH series or something else. Battery Life LowĪnother downside is that the battery life on this thing isn’t awesome. So it’s not a long delay, but if you need it quickly, get something out of your pocket, start shooting right away, this goes about twice as fast. So I’m going to turn them both on at the same time, and you’re going to see– ready, set, go– how long it takes. This is a 300 HS, but there’s a lot of different forms. This is what, my family, we were vlogging on before the GoPro. So here’s a camera that most people vlog on. This one, you gotta plan ahead a little bit. Which any of you guys who are vloggers know that that’s a crucial thing because sometimes, things just happen, and you quickly need to get the camera out and start recording it right away. ![]() One of the downsides to that is it does take a few seconds to turn it on and get it going. I’m going to share that with you a little bit later at the end of this video when I talk about some other tips for how to really maximize this camera. I have found a little bit of a downside though– and getting to the cons– is that although it’ll pick up my voice really great right here, if someone’s on the other side of the room, if I’m talking to my wife or to one of my kids, it doesn’t pick them up as well.Īlthough there are some things you can do to tweak that. If you’re the only one using it and you’re just holding it, talking like this, it’s going to be great. Capture Decent AudioĪnd another pro is that it actually does capture half decent audio. And I can shoot on this, edit on my phone, and publish over my LTE network or over Wi-Fi without even having to bring a computer along with me. And because it has Wi-Fi built in, I can transfer all my pictures and all my video clips to my phone, edit them in iMovie, and then publish them right on my phone. Built In Wi-FiĪnd one of the biggest things that I like about this is that I can use this while we’re traveling. A lot of that stuff is already built into this camera. Especially when you’re out and doing things, you don’t have a whole lot of time to set up fancy equipment and gear. One of the other things I like about it is it has time lapse built in and a lot of other different video modes that really let you get creative with the vlogs that you’re shooting. It’s really easy to just throw into a bag or your purse or your pocket because of its size, and makes it really easy just to take with you wherever you want to go. You can hide the entire camera with your hand, and no one even knows. One of the main things you can clearly see with this camera is that it’s small, it’s compact, and it makes it really easy to vlog inconspicuously when you’re out in public. So I want to talk to you guys about the pros and cons, and then give you some tips about how you can really maximize your GoPro HERO4 camera for vlogging in general. And there’s some great pros to using this camera for vlogging, as well as some draw backs and some cons. We’ve been using it for a few months now. Now my wife, and I, and our family, we’ve been using this for our family’s vlogging channel over at /schmovies. Today, I’m going to give you a review of the GoPro HERO4 Black, specifically for vlogging. It’s where I buy my equipment from due to their prices, knowledgable staff, and great customer service.

![]() 1, 4 However, in a survey of general practitioners in 2016 showed that 80% of general practitioners have recommended steam inhalation as a home remedy to their patients. Studies have shown that there is no additional symptomatic relief from the use of steam inhalation therapy to treat the common cold. Social media and home-made tutorials from unverified sources have a role in misleading parents into practising this dangerous habit. The common misconception is that steam inhalation is beneficial in preventing and treating respiratory tract symptoms. Two thirds of centres reported an association with Asian ethnicity (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Other). This correlated with regions of England with higher prevalence of COVID-19 (London and South East West Midlands North West). With an 86% response rate, we found that 50% of centres have had an increase in scalds relating to steam inhalation. We surveyed Burns Services across England. ![]() Over the past month alone, we have admitted six children with burn injuries due to this mechanism, with the youngest child aged 2 weeks, and the most severe case involving 8% of the child's total body surface area, requiring excision and skin grafting. On average, our unit admits two patients per year with scalds related to steam inhalation. Children have occasionally been left unsupervised. The mechanism is most frequently accidental spillage of boiling water from a bowl or from a kettle. 3 Since lockdown measures were implemented last month, our Burns Centre at Birmingham Children's Hospital, Birmingham, UK, received a 30-fold increase in the number of scalds directly resulting from steam inhalation. Every day, more than 100 children present to the emergency department with burn injuries in the UK. Scald injuries are the commonest cause of burns in children. The evidence base of the practice is weak, with unproven theories that the steam loosens mucus, opens nasal passages, and reduces mucosal inflammation, or that the heat inhibits replication of viruses. On the 20th this was beaten once more - 21.1 million of us were all online at the same time - and then that record was topped once again on 21st March 2020.Steam inhalation is traditionally used as a home remedy for common colds and upper respiratory tract infections. ![]() When Europe went into lockdown in March, Steam noted another new record when 20.3m of us were online on 15th March. On 2nd February a new high of 18.8m was set when China went into lockdown around Chinese New Year, and then again just a week later, when 19.1m were online when CNY was extended. The record of 18.5 million concurrent players - which was originally set at the height of PUBG's popularity in January 2018 - has been broken several times since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Though only speculation, it's thought a combination of the cold weather, pandemic lockdowns, and the release of Cyberpunk 2077 have all had an impact on the figures. Now, according to SteamDB (thanks, PC Gamer), Valve's PC platform has hit another record high, with 24,776,635 concurrent users on the service yesterday.Īt the time of writing, that figure has dropped to 22.6m, although that's still higher than the most recent record of 22 million. Before today, the highest concurrent player count seen on Steam was 22 million users. Steam saw an unprecedented number of players concurrently online back when the pandemic first surged, resulting in millions of people going into lockdown. ![]() For the sixth time this year, Steam has broken its own record for the highest number of concurrent players ever recorded on Steam. ![]() ![]() ![]() This version appears on the 1993 compilation album Flashback. She recorded three songs there with the Sex Pistols' Paul Cook and Steve Jones, one of which was an early version of Arrows' " I Love Rock 'n' Roll". In 1979, Jett was in England pursuing a solo career. ![]() In 2010, The Runaways, a movie about Jett's band, was released, starring Kristen Stewart as Jett and Dakota Fanning as Currie. Soon after, Jett produced the Germs' only album, (GI). Altogether, they produced five albums from 1975 until they disbanded in the spring of 1979. After Currie left the band, the band released two more albums with Jett handling the lead vocals: Waitin' for the Night and And Now. While the Runaways were popular in Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, and South America, they could not garner the same level of success in the United States. While touring England with the Runaways in 1976, Jett first heard the song " I Love Rock 'n' Roll" when she saw Arrows perform it on their weekly UK television series Arrows. They found success abroad, especially in Japan. The band toured around the world and became an opening act for Cheap Trick, Ramones, Van Halen, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This lineup recorded three albums, with Live in Japan becoming one of the biggest-selling imports in US and UK history. While Currie initially fronted the band, Jett shared some lead vocals, played rhythm guitar, and wrote or co-wrote some of the band's material along with Ford, West, and Currie. After the brief tenure of singer and bass guitarist Micki Steele, Jackie Fox, Lita Ford, and Cherie Currie soon joined to complete the band, creating the classic lineup. Career The Runaways Īt age 16, Jett became a founding member of the Runaways with drummer Sandy West. In Los Angeles, Jett's favorite night spot was Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco, a venue that provided the glam rock style she loved. Shortly after the move, her parents divorced and she changed her name to Joan Jett, because she thought it had more of a rock-star sound than her birth name (she has admitted in recent years that "Jett" was not actually her mother's maiden name, even though that is what she used to tell people). Her family then moved to West Covina, California, in Los Angeles County, providing Jett the opportunity to pursue her musical interests. She took some guitar lessons, but soon quit because the instructor kept trying to teach her folk songs. Jett got her first guitar at the age of 13. In 1967, her family moved to Rockville, Maryland, where she attended Randolph Junior High and Wheaton High School. ![]() Her family was Protestant, attended church, and went to Sunday school, but were not strict in their religious beliefs. Her father was an insurance salesman and her mother was a secretary. Joan Marie Larkin was born on September 22, 1958, to James and Dorothy Larkin, at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia (some sources list her birth date as September 22, 1960, which is incorrect ). Jett lives in Long Beach, New York, and has been a New York resident since the late 1970s. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. ![]() She has been described as "the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll". She has three albums that have been certified platinum or gold. Jett's other notable songs include " Bad Reputation", " Light of Day", " I Hate Myself for Loving You" and her covers of " Crimson and Clover", " Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)" and " Dirty Deeds". With The Blackhearts, Jett is known for her rendition of the song " I Love Rock 'n Roll" which was number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in 1982. Jett is best known for her work as the frontwoman of her band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and for earlier founding and performing with the Runaways, which recorded and released the hit song " Cherry Bomb".
